Best of 2011!

Well, it's the end of the year. I figured I would start a new tradition of doing a Best of - post with my favorite photos from each month. Be safe tonight and I'll see you on the street in 2012.

2011 - What a Year

2011 has been a fun year with the start of Style Street in The Roanoke Time. To cap it off, I have some great highlights. I'll be going through my favorite posts of each month to show off my top 12 for 2011, so take some time before you head out to ring in the New Year Saturday and maybe see something you missed.

Big things are coming in 2012 already for me and Angel's Point of View, so I'm looking forward to the year the get started.

The Gregory Brothers

Around the holidays, I spend a lot less time on the street and do other things I enjoy such as: eating, visiting family, and seeing live shows of any kind. I was pleased to find out that The Gregory Brothers, YouTube stars behind the Auto Tune The News videos and the internet explosion Bed Intruder Song, were doing their Annual Christmas show in their hometown of Radford, VA. I scored a front row seat next to, oddly enough, The Gregory Brothers' Dad, Mr. Gregory.  I truly enjoyed the auto tune-free Christmas music by The Gregory Brothers Andrew, Micheal, Evan, and Evans wife Sara Gregory.

I have to say, unlike Jennifer Lopez, The Gregory Brothers love their hometown and actually do good things for the place they give credit for their upbringing. How do I know? It turns out they gave 100% of the ticket sales to local Radford charities. Also unlike Jennifer Lopez, the people of Radford love them back. The City of Radford showed their appreciation by giving the three brothers the key to the city (presented to them by the Mayor of Radford).

Before I stop typing and put an end to my praise of the Gregory Brothers (plus one girl), their musical abilities were outstanding. Their clean layered harmonies, range, and ability to practically play every instrument on stage made for a great Christmas Eve-Eve-Eve...... Eve. If I learned anything from tonight, the most ironic part of The Gregory Brothers and their claim to fame - the digital pixidust for the untalents, also know as autotune - is that they in no way will ever need autotune for themselves (they are this thing called talented). Hopefully, the rest of the world will slowly be exposed to musical splenda and comedic genius of The Gregory Brothers.

Moveable Type Truck... Roanoke

A few weeks back I was out on the streets of Roanoke doing my thing, when I ran into one of my friends with Hired Guns. She told me this print press truck was coming and I needed to stick around to see it. I stuck around and met Kyle, owner of Moveable Type. Her printing press is in the back of her van. Check her out at She might be visiting somewhere close to you.

On The Road... Sutset

Me and I-81 have some history together. I drove it when learning to drive, it seperated the two towns I call home, I drove it to work after high school, and I also drove it home for visits when I lived down south. I now see I-81 weekly, often after a long day on the streets of Roanoke when the sun sets. It's always a pleasant view at the end of the day.

Tailgating.... Uptown Charlotte, NC

Last weekend's trip to Charlotte was a bit of a bust. I drove 3 hours from Virginia just to have all of Virginia Tech to follow me down. Oddly enough, I ran into one of my favorite Roanokers, John Park, featured on Style Street back in July. I spotted him out in a sea of Orange and Maroon and he invited me over to join his tailgate to take a break from walking the streets of Uptown. Aside of that, it was fun to see some young tailgaters wearing their school colors while keeping their fashionable roots grounded.

Meet and Greets

In the past year of my street style endeavors, I've traveled to many cities in the South. What I've quickly learned is, although many have impressively stylish residents, they don't have the foot traffic I need to deem every town worthy of hours of walking. That being said, I've gained a relationship with many of these towns, and don't want them completely taken off my radar.

Starting next year I'll be scheduling Meet and Greets in cities I visit at a coffee shop or someplace similar. You come out - we meet - greet - street style moments might happen.

So how will this work?

- Follow Angel's Point of View here, facebook, or on twitter.
- I'll post when and where I'll have my Meet and Greet in your city.
- Leave and comment or send me an e-mail to RSVP for the Meet and Greet.
- Plan a killer outfit.
- Tell your friends to come.
- Show up and get your fab on!

One of the great things about meet and greets is that I get to meet new people in these cities. Another perk (for you and me both) is I'll probably line up a few streetstyles. I just can't resist taking a stunning image.

Cities that will for sure have Meet and Greets in 2012 will be Charlotte NC, Columbia SC, and Washington DC.

If you have any questions, write me at

I'm looking forward to meeting some of my readers next year.

Visiting Charlotte, N.C. Tomorrow!

I'll be in Charlotte, North Carolina all tomorrow afternoon hitting the streets for the best street style finds (Saturday December 3, 2011). Although the Queen City doesn't have the most populated sidewalks for a city its size, its city scape was made for street fashion, and many photos from CLT often make it to my favorite list. Follow my tweets tomorrow to keep track of my day down south.

Also: Even though I wasn't aware that Virginia Tech was playing a football game there tomorrow night, which in turn means all of Southwest Virginia will be following me down, I expect the locals to be well represented. Hopefully keeping maroon and orange out of frame as much as possible.

Aside from that, Go Hokies!
